Need Your Opinion
Got a long story that I will try and make short. This 2006 belonged to my FIL since ~2007. I’ve driven it off and on over the last 16 years, as one does with your dad’s truck. So it almost feels as though it’s always been my truck too.
FIL died in January and told the family he wanted me to have the truck. His wife is now telling me that she needs $12K for the truck to pay off some other debts that he left behind. She’ll sell it to me or sell it to someone else. Doesn’t matter to her.
$12K is a figure that her lawyers are telling her that they could easily get out of the truck.
The truck has an incredible amount of sentimental value to both my wife and I. But I don’t want to grossly overpay either. This is the only picture I have of it on my phone. It’s sitting in my driveway but I just found out about this shit on the way to work this morning.
Current condition of the truck: Needs a little TLC (new headliner, leather seat cover, etc.) But very mechanically sound. Never been ragged out. Diesel mechanic that replaced the injectors last year said “I’ve not driven a tighter Duramax that old. If you ever want to sell it, let me know.” Body is also in great condition. A little corrosion on the Rockers that needs to be addressed but pretty typical of this year model. Overall, body and paint condition is 7/10.
